My first pair of these which are over three years old still look almost new and there is remaining life on the sole. The pebble grain type leather on these shoes is amazing and just doesn't seem to wear at all or show any signs of scuff, etc. I'm 6-4, 250lbs and not easy on shoes. The run-of-the-mill black leather walking shoes in the $50-$80 range usually last me a year if I'm lucky. My second pair of these shoes I'm just breaking in and I'm ordering another pair for the future in case they discontinue this model for any reason. The few extra bucks for this much higher grade leather is a bargain. I was hesitant at first about the v-strap closure versus shoe laces but I'm used to them now and they are excellent.
